Tralee Beach

The pale sand curves gently around a sheltered bay, with the kind of clear water that makes you forget you're not in the Mediterranean - until you dip a toe in. Views across to the islands are properly spectacular on a clear day.

Families will get the most from this spot. The beach is wide enough for proper sandcastle construction, and shallow enough that parents can relax while kids splash about. Dog walkers love it too - there's plenty of room for a good run. The lack of facilities means bringing your own refreshments, but that's half the appeal of this unspoiled stretch.

Being just a short drive from Oban makes it perfect for a day trip from any of the nearby holiday parks. Tralee Bay Holidays sits practically on the doorstep, while several other parks like Seaview Caravan & Motorhome park are within easy walking distance. Even if you're based at the Oban Camping and Caravanning Club Site, it's only a ten-minute drive.

Low tide reveals rock pools that'll keep younger visitors entertained for hours. The beach faces west, so sunset views are absolutely cracking. Just remember this is Scotland - pack layers even in summer.
