Wild waves crash against dark rocks while seals bob their heads above the water - that's your first glimpse of this dramatic stretch of Ceredigion coastline. Traeth yr Ynys sits about ten minutes' drive from Llandysul, where the Teifi Valley meets the sea in spectacular fashion.

Families will find plenty of space for the kids to burn off energy, though keep a close eye on little ones as the currents can be strong. The beach works well for a proper Welsh seaside experience without the crowds - even in summer you'll often have whole sections to yourselves.
