Towyn Warren

Standing at 160 metres above sea level, this grassy hilltop offers proper views across Cardigan Bay without the crowds you'll find at more famous Welsh peaks. The walk up from the car park near Mwnt beach takes about 20 minutes on a well-worn path, though it's a bit of a slog in the final stretch.

From the summit, you can see clear across to Bardsey Island on good days, with the Preseli Hills rolling away inland. It's particularly lovely at sunset when the light catches the water. The warren itself refers to the old rabbit burrows that still dot the hillside - kids enjoy spotting the entrance holes, though the rabbits themselves are quite shy.

Walkers and photographers will get the most from this spot, especially if you're already staying at one of the nearby campsites like Mwnt Camping or Gwbert Glamping. The effort-to-reward ratio is excellent compared to some of Pembrokeshire's more demanding peaks. Allow an hour for the round trip, longer if you want to linger at the top.

Best tackled in decent weather as the coastal winds can be fierce up here. It's free to access and makes a cracking addition to a day exploring the coast path around Cardigan.
