Toft Lane Wood

A proper woodland walk on the outskirts of Bridlington, Toft Lane Wood delivers exactly what it promises - trees, peace, and a decent stretch of legs without the crowds. The paths wind through mixed woodland with enough space to actually breathe, which is rare when you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks and fancy escaping the holiday complex for an hour or two.

It's the sort of place where families with younger kids won't last more than an hour before someone gets restless, but walkers and anyone wanting a quick forest fix will find it perfectly serviceable. The ground can be muddy after rain - proper muddy - so decent boots are worth packing. There's no tearoom or visitor centre, so you'll need to sort drinks and snacks beforehand.

The real strength here is proximity to Bridlington itself. You can knock this walk out in the morning before heading into town for lunch, or combine it with a coastal ramble if you're staying at The Old Mill Caravan Park or Bridlington Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, both within five miles. Flamborough Glamping & Vineyard is a bit further north but still reasonable as a base if you're after something less traditional.

Free to access, no time limits, and genuinely useful for breaking up a beach-focused holiday. Just don't expect views or drama - this is straightforward woodland, and that's rather the point.
