Todd Fell

Todd Fell is a modest peak in the Lake District that rewards a straightforward walk with surprisingly decent views across the surrounding fells. At 1,457 feet, it's nothing that'll tax experienced walkers, but it's exactly the sort of fell that makes a morning's outing feel properly worthwhile without requiring crampons or a dawn start.

You'll approach from the Ambleside area, and the path is well-trodden enough to follow without faffing about with a map, though the terrain can be boggy in places - waterproof boots are non-negotiable. The walk takes about two hours round trip, making it ideal for families with children who've graduated beyond the "are we there yet" stage but aren't ready for the proper peaks. The summit view sweeps across to the Langdale Pikes and down towards Windermere, which on a clear day justifies the effort.
