Titsal Wood

A proper woodland walk just east of Halesworth, Titsal Wood offers a decent escape into Suffolk's quieter countryside. The forest is manageable in size - you're looking at an hour or so if you just want to stretch your legs, maybe two if you're the type to stop and actually notice the trees. The paths are generally straightforward, though they can get muddy after rain, so proper footwear matters.

Families with young kids might find it a touch dull - there's not much drama here, no waterfall or dramatic vista to make the Instagram moment worthwhile. But if you've got older children who can handle a forest floor, it's pleasant enough, and you won't fight crowds. The woodland itself is typical East Anglia: a mix of broadleaf and conifers, the kind of green that feels properly restorative after a few days in a caravan.

The nearest base would be Henstead Fields Caravan and Campsite, just over three miles away, making this a natural half-day addition to a camping holiday in the area. Combine it with a walk through some of the other Suffolk forests or a visit to nearby Halesworth itself - a small market town with reasonable pubs and decent shops - and you've got a solid day sorted. Don't expect anything fancy or managed; this is real woodland, not a country estate. That's exactly the point.
