About Titlington Pike
The climb itself takes about 90 minutes from the base, depending on your fitness and which route you take. The views are genuinely impressive: on a clear day you'll see the Cheviot Hills rolling away to the north, and the Simonside ridge across to the west. The summit is bare enough that you feel properly exposed to the elements - which is either brilliant or miserable depending on the weather.
Walkers will get the most from this. It's not a Sunday stroll, but it's not a mountain expedition either. Families with older kids who don't mind a bit of gradient will manage it fine. The paths are reasonably clear, though muddy after rain.
If you're based at River Breamish Caravan Park - just 2.3 miles away - this makes an excellent half-day outing. Middlemoor Farm Holidays is a bit further at 6.1 miles, but still within easy reach for a morning trip. There's no facilities on the pike itself, so take water. The nearest shops and fuel are back in Alnwick.
Weather matters enormously here. Go in sunshine and you'll love it. Go in drizzle and you'll question every decision that led you there. Time your visit for decent forecast and this becomes a genuinely excellent Northumbrian walk.
