Tinkers' Nook

Walk into Tinkers' Nook and you're immediately in the thick of proper woodland - the kind where the light filters through in patches and you can actually hear yourself think. This forest sits just outside Driffield in East Yorkshire, and it's the sort of place where an hour disappears without you noticing. The paths wind through dense trees, and there's genuine peace here - no theme park crowds, no forced attractions, just woodland as it should be.

It works best for anyone who actually enjoys a forest walk. Families with young kids might get fidgety after twenty minutes unless they're the type to spend hours turning over logs and looking for insects. But walkers, nature types, and people after some genuine quiet will find it satisfying. The canopy is thick enough that even on drizzly days it stays reasonably dry underfoot.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Mill Farm Country Park or Skipsea Sands Holiday Park are roughly six miles away - Tinkers' Nook makes a solid morning or early evening walk without needing to plan a full day around it. Allow 45 minutes to an hour depending on how many diversions you take. There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so bring what you need.

The honest take: this isn't a destination in itself. But if you're already in the Driffield area on a holiday park stay, it's worth the short drive for a proper stretch of the legs.
