The first time I walked into Tin Men, I wasn't expecting much from a converted industrial space in Blackburn. Then I saw the walls - absolutely covered in salvaged metal sculptures, found objects, and frankly brilliant artwork that feels like someone's raided every scrapyard within fifty miles and turned it into something that actually works.

It's a gallery that doesn't take itself too seriously, which is precisely why it works. You've got everything from welded figures to installations made from old machinery parts, all with that distinctly Lancashire grit to them. The space itself matters here - high ceilings, raw brick, proper industrial bones - so the work feels like it belongs rather than just hanging on walls.

Historically-minded types will get a kick out of it because there's real substance behind the pieces, not just shock value. Kids find it endlessly interesting because metal and movement catch their eye in ways that conventional paintings often don't. An hour is usually enough, maybe ninety minutes if you're keen.

Based just outside Blackburn town centre, it slots nicely into a broader look at Lancashire's creative spaces.
