The woodland itself is straightforward: mixed woodland with established trails that take anything from twenty minutes to a couple of hours depending on which direction you wander. The ground can get muddy, especially after rain, so decent boots are worth the bother. It's the sort of place where you'll see dog walkers more than tourists, which tells you something about its character. Kids will find it interesting enough - there's room to explore, spots to clamber about, though it won't keep them entertained if they're after theme parks and attractions.

It's free, naturally, and open whenever you fancy. There's no car park in the traditional sense, so you'll need to scout for roadside parking nearby.
