Thomas Hardy Statue

Standing tall in the centre of Dorchester, this bronze monument to Wessex's most famous literary son captures Thomas Hardy in thoughtful pose. The statue depicts the novelist and poet with book in hand, looking rather contemplative about the trials he put his fictional characters through. Created by Eric Kennington in 1931, it's positioned outside the County Museum where Hardy himself once worked as an architect's apprentice.
