The Slip

The Slip is a proper woodland walk just outside Petersfield, the sort of place that rewards a lazy afternoon more than it demands your full attention. You're walking through beech and oak forest, with paths that wind through dappled shade and occasionally open onto small clearings where the light floods in. It's not dramatic - no waterfalls or rocky outcrops - but it's exactly what you want if you've spent the morning at one of the nearby glamping spots like Adhurst Yurts or Cedar Valley and fancy stretching your legs without a three-hour commitment.

The woodland is manageable for families with older kids and brilliant for anyone who just wants to breathe properly for a bit. You could knock out a loop in 45 minutes or take it slowly and make it a couple of hours. The ground can be muddy after rain, which is annoying if you're in trainers but hardly disastrous. There's something genuinely pleasant about walking through undisturbed forest - no crowds, no gift shop, no interpretation boards telling you what you're looking at.

It works well as a morning venture before heading into Petersfield proper for lunch, or as an evening wander if you're based at Wigwam Holidays or Feather Down Manor Farm nearby. Free to access, naturally. Go when the light's good - early morning or late afternoon feels less like trudging and more like actually enjoying yourself. Not a destination in itself, but exactly the kind of thing that makes a park holiday properly restorative.
