The Mount

The Mount rises up from the flat Sussex landscape just inland from Bexhill-on-Sea, and it's one of those spots that rewards the short walk up. Nothing dramatic - it's more of a substantial hill than a peak - but on a clear day the views across to the coast and back toward the Weald are genuinely good. The summit itself is bare enough that you can see properly, not hemmed in by trees the whole way up.

It's a decent outing for families with kids old enough to manage a proper walk, though don't expect a long expedition - most people are up and back within an hour or so. The path is straightforward enough, though it can be muddy after rain. Walkers will appreciate the vantage point and the chance to orient themselves across the local terrain. History types might find the local area interesting from a geographical perspective, though The Mount itself isn't a major historical site.

Being so close to Bexhill-on-Sea, this works well as a morning activity if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Park Holidays UK is virtually on the doorstep, while Combe Haven and Crowhurst Park are only a few miles inland. You could easily combine it with a coastal walk or a proper explore of Bexhill itself. Free to visit, and no time restrictions to speak of. It's the sort of place that fills a gap in your itinerary nicely rather than being a reason to travel here specifically, but that's not a criticism - sometimes those are the best finds.
