The Mount

You're looking at roughly 380 feet of chalk and clay that rises abruptly from the Kent countryside just outside Faversham. The Mount isn't dramatic - it won't take your breath away - but it does offer proper views across the Swale marshes and towards the North Sea on a clear day, which feels like a decent reward for the modest climb.

The walk up takes about fifteen minutes if you're not dawdling. It's steep enough to notice but manageable for most people. Families with young kids might find it a bit of a slog, but older children will be fine. The summit itself is open ground, so you can see where you're going and appreciate the sprawl of Kent spreading out in most directions.

This works well as a half-day outing if you're staying at one of the nearby camping spots - Mount Ephraim Glamping Pods is closest at just over three miles away, or Painters Farm if you prefer a more traditional setup. Pair it with a wander round Faversham itself, which has a decent high street and the Abbey remains if you fancy some medieval history.

Go early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds and catch the light properly. The walk is free, and there's no fancy infrastructure - just a footpath and some grass at the top. It's the kind of spot that works best as part of a broader Kent ramble rather than a destination in itself, but it's worth the detour if you're in the area.
