Kids will spend a good hour poking about the exhibits and clambering on the outdoor play equipment, though teenagers might find it a bit tame. The real value is the tower itself and the surrounding forest - worth doing the walk up for even if you skip the museum bit. Allow two to three hours if you're combining it with lunch and a proper explore of the woodland paths. The spot works brilliantly if you're based at Warfield Park or Scotlands House Campsite nearby, both within easy driving distance. Morning visits tend to be less rammed, and the light for photographs is cleaner then too. Fair warning: the car park can fill up on weekends, and the hill is a genuine trudge with small children, so pace yourself. It's not a full-day attraction, but it's the kind of place that rounds out a park holiday nicely - especially if you've got restless kids who need a change of scenery from the campsite.
