The Dog Walking Field - Pembury

It's exactly what the name suggests - a proper field where dogs can run about without a lead. Located in Pembury, just outside Tunbridge Wells, it's the sort of place that won't blow your mind if you're after grandeur, but dog owners will find it genuinely useful.

The field itself is open and relatively flat, with decent fencing all round. You can let your dog off and watch it tear about for half an hour while you stand there in your wellies. There's not much else to it - no playground equipment, no cafe, no facilities that I could see. It's purely functional.

If you're staying at one of the nearby glamping sites like Colts Hill or Hopgarden, this is worth knowing about. Both places cater to families and couples after a bit of countryside, and having somewhere local to exercise a dog properly saves you a drive. The Hop Farm is a bit further out but also an option if you've got a four-legged companion in tow.

Is it worth a special trip? No. Is it handy if you're in the area with a dog that needs a proper run? Absolutely. Go early morning if you can - you'll avoid the after-school rush and your dog will have more space. Tunbridge Wells itself is only a few miles away if you need cafes or shops afterwards.
