The Dingle

Free entry to this slice of woodland paradise just outside Shrewsbury makes it an absolute winner for families on a budget. The Dingle is essentially a circular walk through mature trees and alongside a babbling brook, with enough twists and turns to keep children interested without being too challenging for pushchairs or elderly relatives.

Families will find this spot works brilliantly as a gentle morning out - allow about an hour for a leisurely stroll, though you could easily stretch it to two if the kids want to play Poohsticks from the various bridges. The path is well-maintained and clearly marked, making it proper easy to navigate even when the leaves are thick underfoot in autumn.
