The Cow Putt

Eighteen holes of gloriously bonkers mini golf await at this farm-themed course just outside Yarmouth. The Cow Putt takes the whole agricultural theme seriously - you'll be putting through barns, around tractors, and past an assortment of fibreglass farm animals that look suspiciously pleased with themselves.

Families with younger children will get the most joy here. The obstacles are inventive enough to keep adults entertained, but not so tricky that a six-year-old will have a meltdown on hole twelve. Each hole tells part of a farm story, complete with mooing sound effects that had my teenagers rolling their eyes and my eight-year-old in stitches.

It's proper good fun, though don't expect championship-level course design. Some holes feel a bit thrown together, and the artificial grass has seen better days. Still, for a giggle on a family holiday, it does the job nicely.

Location-wise, you can't get much more convenient if you're staying at nearby Tapnell Farm Holiday Destination or Tom's Eco Lodge - both are practically next door. The course sits well with the area's family-friendly vibe, and makes a decent rainy day backup when the beach loses its appeal. Allow about an hour for a full round, longer if you've got competitive kids who insist on replaying every shot.
