The LDS Church on the outskirts of Wakefield is a working place of worship rather than a tourist attraction in the traditional sense, but it's worth knowing about if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks and curious about the local religious landscape. The building itself is modern and functional - think 1970s-80s architecture - rather than the grand Victorian chapels you'll spot dotted around West Yorkshire.

Unless you're LDS yourself or have a genuine interest in Mormon architecture and community spaces, this isn't a detour that'll eat up your afternoon. Most visitors find themselves here because they're staying at Woodsworth Exploring or Broadlands Farm just down the road and fancy a quick look around the neighbourhood. The staff are welcoming if you call ahead, though opening times for casual visitors aren't always clear, so ring first.

Family groups with members of the faith will get the most from a visit. For everyone else - walkers, history buffs, casual tourists - you're better spending your time exploring Wakefield's actual heritage attractions or heading to Moor Valley Country Park nearby, which gives you proper woodland and space to stretch your legs.
