The Art House Café

Cromer's got a proper little art scene if you know where to look, and The Art House Café sits right in the middle of it. It's part gallery, part coffee stop - the kind of place locals actually frequent rather than somewhere that exists purely for tourists to Instagram. You'll find contemporary work on the walls, usually from regional artists, alongside the sort of coffee that doesn't taste like it's been sitting since breakfast.

The setup works well if you're the type who wants culture without the stuffiness. No grand foyer, no audio guides - just good art at eye level while you're holding a decent cup. It appeals most to people who like their creativity casual: artists themselves, folk who paint on holiday, anyone after a genuine community space rather than a polished gallery experience.

Unfortunately I couldn't pin down current opening hours or whether there's a charge to simply browse, so ring ahead before you trek in. Allow 30-45 minutes unless something really grabs you. The real pull of the place is that it breaks up a Cromer visit nicely - grab a walk along the seafront, pop in here for a proper sit-down, then head back to your caravan at The Grove Glamping or one of the other sites within a mile or so. It's the kind of stop that makes a coastal holiday feel less like a schedule and more like you're actually living somewhere for a bit.
