Teddy Bear Woods

A wooded nature reserve just outside Littlemoor that's more functional than fancy - think proper woodland walk rather than manicured attraction. Teddy Bear Woods is essentially a small patch of trees where locals take their kids for a stomp about, and it does exactly what it says on the tin without pretending to be anything grander.

The woodland itself is pleasant enough for a brief wander, offering shade on hot days and the usual stuff you'd expect from a Dorset nature reserve - birdsong, leaf litter underfoot, a bit of peace and quiet. It's the sort of place where children can properly run around without constant supervision, which parents seem to appreciate. Don't arrive expecting dramatic vistas or serious biodiversity spotting. Come for a 30 to 45 minute leg-stretch with the family, not a day-long expedition.

For holiday-makers based at Haven Weymouth Bay or Bowleaze Cove, it's practically on your doorstep - barely over a mile away - making it ideal as a quick morning excursion before heading to the beach. Families with young children who need a break from the seaside will find it useful; walkers looking for a proper countryside hike should probably venture further into Dorset. The place is free to access and worth knowing about if you're staying nearby, though it's hardly a reason to book a holiday specifically to visit Littlemoor. Nice to have, not essential.
