You'll find Tay just outside Brighton, a contemporary gallery that punches well above its weight. It's the sort of place that rewards turning up without massive expectations and leaving genuinely impressed.

Pop to the gallery mid-afternoon when light's good, then head into the city proper for the seafront and lanes.

I'd recommend checking ahead for opening hours and current exhibitions before you visit. Most contemporary galleries are pretty relaxed about drop-ins during posted hours, and admission is usually modest or free, but it's worth confirming. Worth the detour if you're genuinely interested in what's showing.
