Stream Passage Pot is a proper caver's cave, the kind where you're actually wading through flowing water rather than shuffling along a tourist-friendly passage with electric lights. The stream that gives it its name runs through the entire system, and depending on rainfall, you could be ankle-deep or genuinely wet.

This isn't a casual stroll. You'll need a decent torch, sturdy boots with grip, and a willingness to get muddy. The passage opens out into larger chambers as you push further, with the stream always your guide. There's something visceral about following underground water - you're not just looking at a cave, you're part of its actual function.

Families with older kids (teenagers upwards) will find it rewarding, though younger children might struggle with the scrambling sections and the cold. Cavers and keen walkers will love it far more than casual visitors. There's no admission charge and no set hours because there's no visitor infrastructure - you're going caving, not on a tour.

Settles location in the heart of the Dales means you're well positioned for the broader limestone country. Base yourself at one of the nearby campsites like Ribblesdale Pods or Orcaber Farm, and Stream Passage Pot works as a brilliant half-day adventure wedged between surface walks. Allow two to three hours minimum, longer if you want to push deeper. Go in dry weather - the stream can rise quickly.
