Stagborough Hill

Standing 183 metres above the surrounding Severn Valley, this modest peak offers surprisingly good views across Worcestershire and into the Welsh borders on clear days. The walk up from Stourport-on-Severn takes about 45 minutes through mixed woodland and open pasture, with a couple of fairly steep sections that might test less experienced walkers.

Families with older children will find the climb manageable, though toddlers might struggle with the gradient in places. The summit itself is fairly unremarkable - no dramatic rocky outcrop or trig point to speak of - but the panoramic views more than justify the effort. On a good day you can spot the Malvern Hills to the south and Clee Hill to the west.

Walkers staying at any of the holiday parks around Stourport-on-Severn will find this makes for a proper half-day excursion. Lickhill Manor Caravan Park sits closest to the trailhead, making it particularly convenient for an early morning ascent before the day gets too warm. The paths can get muddy after rain, so decent walking boots are essential.

It's free to climb, naturally, and you'll want to allow two to three hours for the round trip depending on how long you linger at the top. Best tackled in dry weather when the views are at their clearest.
