St Petrock's is Devon perpendicular at its most straightforward - fifteenth-century stonework, decent windows, and the sort of quiet interior you'd expect from a working parish church that's been doing its job for six hundred years.

Inside, there's nothing flashy. The nave's pleasant enough, with original medieval roof timbers if you know where to look, and the usual Victorian restorations that were either inspired or ham-fisted depending on your view. The real draw is simply the space itself - proper peaceful after Ilfracombe's seafront bustle. You'll spend twenty minutes here maximum, though it's worth that time if you're walking the town's older streets.

It's free to visit, unsurprisingly. Go during daylight and the door's usually open. Families with restless kids won't linger, but if you're into parish church architecture or want ten minutes of genuine quiet, it delivers.

The appeal lies mainly in the place itself rather than this one building. You're best off staying at one of the luxury parks within a few miles - Lynmouth Holiday Retreat or HARTA Retreat handle that sort of thing well - and using St Petrock's as part of a broader wander through Ilfracombe's Victorian architecture and coastal paths. It's the sort of church you tick off while heading somewhere else, not a standalone reason to make the trip.
