St. Peter's & St. Paul's Church

The church sits quietly in Holt, a proper Norfolk market town that doesn't shout about itself. St. Peter's & St. Paul's is one of those medieval structures you stumble upon while wandering the high street - flint-faced, substantial, the kind of building that's been watching over the same patch of ground for seven centuries.

Inside, it's all soaring timber roofs and light flooding through tall windows. The craftsmanship in the roof alone is worth stopping for if you've got any interest in medieval carpentry. There's a real sense of continuity here - the kind of place where locals still gather and the prayer books look genuinely used rather than staged for tourists.

Holt itself is the draw more than anything. It's a working market town with proper independent shops, decent pubs, and a bypass that keeps the lorries away from the centre. Good for an hour's wander before or after visiting the church. If you're camping at North Norfolk Camping Glamping nearby, or staying at one of the other parks dotted around - Kelling Heath or Woodlands are both within five miles - the church makes for a pleasant twenty-minute detour on a North Norfolk loop. Not a reason to plan your whole trip around, but absolutely worth an hour if you're in the area exploring the coast.
