St Paul's (Tickton LEP)

St Paul's sits in the quiet village of Tickton, just a few miles outside Beverley, and it's one of those Victorian churches that stops you mid-walk. The red brick exterior is unmistakably 19th century - solid, purposeful, nothing fancy - but step inside and you'll find proper stained glass and the kind of peaceful interior that makes you want to sit down for twenty minutes without your phone.

It's not a major pilgrimage site, so you won't fight crowds. Walkers exploring the area tend to stumble upon it rather than plan a visit, which is rather the point. The churchyard offers a gentle pause if you're doing a circular route through the Beverley area. Bring kids and they'll either appreciate the quiet or get bored within ten minutes - depends on the child, really.

The church works well as part of a wider exploration of the East Yorkshire villages. If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Kingfisher Lakes Glamping is excellent value at 5.0 stars, or Blue Rose Country Park and Dacre Lakeside Park are solid options four to five miles away - you could easily combine a visit here with walks around Beverley itself, which has far more to occupy an afternoon.

Opening hours and admission aren't widely advertised, so assume it's open during daylight hours, likely free. Worth twenty minutes if you're passing through. Don't make a special trip, but if you're in the area, it's the sort of find that makes a holiday feel properly local.
