St Nicholas Church is proper old - the sort of place where you can actually feel the centuries pressing down on the stone walls. The interior is straightforward: not fancy, not crammed with treasures, just honest village church architecture doing what it's always done.

What makes it worth stopping for is the walk itself. From Robertsbridge, it's only a couple of miles, and the countryside between here and the church is genuinely lovely - open fields, decent hedgerows, the kind of landscape that reminds you why the South East works so well for a rambling holiday. If you're staying at The Original Hut Company just down the road, you could knock this out before breakfast without breaking a sweat.

This isn't a destination in itself, though. Don't book a holiday to Sandhurst specifically to see St Nicholas - that would be mad. But if you're camping at one of the local sites (Seven Acre Woods or Glassenbury are both solid options) and you fancy a morning walk that ends somewhere with a bit of history rather than just a fence, this delivers. Allow 20 minutes inside, longer if you're the type who reads every memorial plaque. Go mid-week if you can - weekends bring more visitors and the charm gets a bit lost.
