St Michael's Church, Irstead

The approach to St Michael's across the flat Norfolk landscape is half the experience. The flat terrain around Irstead suits families with younger kids or anyone after gentle rambling rather than huffing up hills. Allow forty minutes to an hour if you're actually looking at the building rather than just photographing the tower.

Great Yarmouth is the nearest proper town if you need supplies, but frankly you're coming here for the quiet. Visit midweek if you want the place to yourself.
