Who gets the most from it depends really on your tolerance for a quiet sit-down in a 700-year-old building. If you're into church architecture, there are worse ways to spend half an hour. Family groups with hyperactive children will find it less thrilling - there's only so long you can occupy a restless seven-year-old between the pews. But if you're the sort of traveller who stops in every parish church you pass, St Mary's deserves your attention.
