But if you're based at one of the nearby sites like Dale Farm or Derbyshire Hills Campsite, popping into Stoney Middleton village for an hour and ducking into the church is absolutely worth doing. The village is small, genuine, not at all touristy in the worst sense. Access is typically free, though opening hours can be unpredictable depending on the vicar's schedule - arrive during daylight and you'll likely find it open.
