St Mark’s Church, Woodcote

Inside, the architecture tells a story if you know where to look. The building itself is the main draw here - solid, unpretentious, and genuinely atmospheric on a quiet weekday afternoon. There's no gift shop, no audio guide, just the space itself. You'll spend twenty minutes looking around if you're thorough, less if you're just passing through.

It's worth a detour if you're walking in the area or doing a church-spotting tour of Surrey villages, but don't expect bells and whistles. The real value comes from sitting in the nave for a bit and understanding how these places function as the heart of their villages. History types will appreciate the bones of the building. Redhill is your nearest town for supplies and other attractions. If you're based at Alderstead Heath Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, about four and a half miles away, Woodcote makes an easy cycling or driving detour. Milberry Green Meadows is slightly further out but worth considering if you want a five-star site with easy access to this quieter corner of Surrey.
