Roman tile kiln

Two thousand years ago, potters were firing tiles here in Redhill, and you can still walk among the archaeological remains of their Roman kiln. Children might get restless unless they're already into archaeology, but walking the site and imagining the operation works better for engaged families than for casual browsers.

It's free to visit, which is decent value given what you're seeing. The walk itself is straightforward, though the site can get muddy after rain. Spring and autumn are probably best - you'll avoid the summer crowds heading to Surrey's bigger attractions whilst still having decent light to see the kiln properly.
