St Margaret's is a proper working church - still holds services, still matters to the community - rather than a museum piece you're herded through on a tight schedule.

Inside, there's decent stained glass and the usual Victorian additions to an older structure, though honestly it's the atmosphere that wins you over rather than any single showstopper. If you're into ecclesiastical architecture or family history (the registers go back centuries), you'll find it worthwhile. Others might spend twenty minutes and call it done.

The real draw comes if you're camping at New Hall Farm or Sherwood Castle Holiday Forest - both brilliant bases within a couple of miles - and looking for a gentle morning walk before breakfast. It pairs nicely with a wider tour of Newark's medieval bits without eating up your entire day. The town itself has plenty going on, so St Margaret's works best as part of a larger wander rather than a destination in itself.
