St Joseph's & St. Patrick's R C Church

The twin spires of St Joseph's and St Patrick's rise rather dramatically above Dunoon's seafront, making it impossible to miss if you're wandering the town centre. It's a proper Victorian Catholic church, all red sandstone and Gothic revival fussiness, built when Scottish Catholic communities were establishing themselves after decades of suppression. The interior is worth a look if the doors are open - stained glass, ornate plasterwork, the usual ecclesiastical trimmings that feel a bit grand for a west coast town, but that's rather the point.

You're not going to spend hours here, realistically. Twenty minutes tops, unless you're genuinely interested in Scottish Catholic architectural history, in which case you might linger for an hour studying the details. It's more of a striking landmark to tick off while you're exploring Dunoon proper - the promenade, the seafront cafes, that sort of thing. The church sits right in the town, so it works well if you're staying at Beach House Pods or Hunters Quay Holiday Village and fancy a bit of cultural punctuation to your beach-and-bracing-air routine.

Free to visit, though opening times seem to depend on whether someone's scheduled a service. Worth checking locally before making a special trip, but if you're in Dunoon anyway - which you likely are if you're nearby the holiday parks - it's a five-minute detour that adds some architectural interest to your afternoon. Not essential, but solid if the weather's turned and you fancy a spot of shelter with some character.
