St. John's Uniting Church

St. John's sits quietly on the high street in Conwy, easy to miss if you're rushing between the castle and the seafront at Llandudno. It's a proper working church - Grade I listed, built in the 15th century - with that particular Welsh chapel feel: stone, sturdy, unapologetic. The interior's worth a look if you catch it open, though hours aren't guaranteed so it's more opportunistic than planned.

You're really here for the walk around Conwy itself rather than spending hours inside. The church anchors the town's medieval street plan, and wandering the lanes afterwards gives you a sense of how people actually lived rather than just gawping at the castle walls. Families with older kids who can manage a bit of history will get something from it. Younger ones might find it a five-minute job.

Free to enter, as these things usually are. Allow ten minutes unless you're the sort who reads every plaque. Best visited on a dry day - the narrow streets get properly wet and miserable otherwise.

If you're staying at one of the caravan parks nearby - Bron-y-Wendon or The Beach are closest at under five miles - this works as a morning slot before heading down to Llandudno's prom or tackling Conwy Castle properly. It's not a destination in itself, more the seasoning on a coastal day out.
