St. John the Baptist Church

The church sits on Rugeley's high street - a solid stone building that rewards a brief stop if you're passing through town. St. John the Baptist dates back centuries, and the interior has that particular smell of old wood and stone that only medieval churches seem to carry properly. Rugeley itself is a working market town, not a heritage site, so expectations matter here. Head in during daylight hours and check if there are any services on - sometimes access can be limited.
