St Feock's Church

The church sits on a quiet lane just outside Truro, its grey stone tower visible from the road long before you arrive. St Feock's is a proper working parish church, the sort of place where locals actually come on Sunday rather than somewhere that's been turned into a gift shop. The interior is surprisingly spacious, with a decent nave and some genuinely interesting medieval features if you know where to look - the kind of details that reward a slow wander rather than a quick snap for Instagram.

It's not a showstopper like Tintagel or some of the more famous Cornish churches, but that's rather the point. You get the real thing: worn flagstones, proper wooden pews, the smell of old stone and furniture polish. History types will appreciate the fixtures and fittings, though you'll want to time your visit when someone's about if you want more than surface detail. Families with younger kids might find it a bit quiet - there's no interactive elements or anything, just a church being a church.

The location works well for a caravan-based holiday. Both Carnon Downs (1.9 miles) and Trethem Mill (2.4 miles) are close enough for an easy drive, making St Feock's a natural addition to a morning exploring the Truro area before heading to the coast. Allow thirty minutes to an hour, depending on how much you want to potter about. Free admission, naturally.
