St. Etheldreda Church

St. Etheldreda's is genuinely old - we're talking 12th century here - with the kind of weathered stonework that speaks to actual centuries of use rather than Victorian restoration theatre.

Inside, the space feels intimate rather than grand. Families with older kids who can actually sit still in a church won't find it tedious; younger ones will get bored within ten minutes, fair warning.

Admission details are thin on the ground, so ring ahead before you go. Allow 20-30 minutes maximum unless you're genuinely deep into ecclesiastical architecture.
