St Endellion Church

The church sits in a proper rural pocket of North Cornwall, a few miles south of Trelights, and it's the kind of place that rewards the detour if you're already exploring the area around Padstow or Port Isaac. St Endellion is medieval - built centuries ago when this was a proper working parish - and it's got that worn, honest quality you find in Cornish churches that have actually been used by real communities rather than purely preserved as tourist stops.

Inside, there's a decent font, some worthwhile monuments, and the sort of light that makes you understand why people bothered building these things. The churchyard itself is lovely for a wander, with old gravestones and views towards the surrounding farmland. It's free to visit and there's no faffing about with opening hours - you just walk in. Most people spend twenty minutes or so having a proper look around, maybe half an hour if you're the type who reads every inscription.

Families won't find it thrilling unless they're genuinely interested in old churches, but walkers and anyone into Cornish history will find it worthwhile. It's quiet enough that you'll likely have the place to yourself. If you're staying at St Minver Holiday Park or one of the other sites nearby - Porthilly Beach or Padstow Holiday Village are reasonably close - you could easily incorporate this into a morning's drive around the lanes. Pair it with the coastal walks and fishing villages in the area and it slots in nicely rather than being a standalone destination.
