A short walk from Aberfeldy takes you to a modest stone well tucked into the Perthshire landscape - St David's Well, a spot that's been drawing visitors for centuries seeking its supposedly healing waters. It's not much to look at, if we're honest: a simple structure with a trickle of water, the kind of place that feels more meaningful if you've made the effort to find it rather than stumbling across it by accident.

Walkers and history types will get more from this than casual tourists. The walk itself is pleasant enough, following paths through countryside that actually justifies the trek. There's something rather nice about visiting somewhere that hasn't been gift-shoppified or roped off behind visitor centre bureaucracy. You come, you pay your respects (or fill a bottle if you fancy), and you move on.

Allow an hour or so if you're combining it with a walk around Aberfeldy itself - the well isn't a destination you'd drive an hour for, but it works as part of a morning or afternoon exploring the area. The nearest caravan park is Aberfeldy Caravan Park, though the five-star Pitilie Pods just 2.4 miles away would give you far better base camp comfort. Glengoulandie, further out, offers proper camping if you want the full experience.

Go if you're already walking in the area. Skip it if you're short on time or expecting something grand. It's authentic, unpretentious, and that's rather the point.
