St. Andrew's & St. Cuthbert's RC Church

You're really here for the architecture and a moment's peace rather than lengthy visitor facilities. Allow fifteen minutes if you're just popping in, longer if you're the type who reads every plaque. Free to enter, naturally. The church sits right in the town centre, so it's an obvious stop while you're exploring Kirkcudbright's galleries and harbour-side cafes.

For a caravan holiday based at Silver Craigs - practically on the doorstep at under a mile away - or any of the other parks clustered round this coast (Seaward, Domes By The Sea), this is a decent cultural break between beach days and fish suppers. Not essential, but the setting's charming enough and it takes about as long as a decent cup of tea. History types and church enthusiasts will find it quietly interesting; families won't face any complaints about boredom here, just keep it brief. The town itself is far more appealing than the church alone, to be honest.
