Cumstoun Castle

A proper ruin, this one - Cumstoun Castle sits quietly near Kirkcudbright without the fuss of a visitor centre or admission booth. What remains is a 16th-century tower house, crumbling but dignified, the kind of place you can walk up to and actually touch the stonework without someone tutting about preservation.
