St Andrew's Church, Toddington

The village of Toddington sits just south of Tewkesbury, and St Andrew's Church is the sort of place that rewards a quiet detour if you're camping nearby. It's a proper medieval church - 14th century mostly - with the kind of patina that only comes from 700 years of Worcestershire weather working away at the stonework. Inside, there's decent Perpendicular Gothic work and some decent stained glass if you catch it in the right light.

Historically minded visitors will find it worthwhile. The building itself tells the story of medieval parish life better than a museum ever could. You're not talking about some grand cathedral here, just solid, honest architecture that's been quietly serving the same village for centuries.

It's not a massive draw on its own - most people spend twenty minutes inside, maybe another ten walking around the churchyard. But if you're based at one of the nearby parks - Winchcombe Camping is barely two miles away, and Cotswold Woodland Glamping isn't far either - it's worth the five-minute drive from Tewkesbury for a wander. The church is free to enter and there are no opening hour restrictions if you're visiting outside service times, though it's good form to check the door.

Group it with a walk around Tewkesbury itself or a longer ramble through the Cotswold Edge nearby. On its own, it's a pleasant interlude rather than a day trip, but that's rather the point when you're on holiday in this part of Worcestershire.
