St Andrew's Church

The churchyard at St Andrew's sits just off Shifnal's main drag, and it's one of those proper old places that stops you dead when you turn the corner. Medieval masonry, a bell tower that's seen centuries pass, and inside - if you manage to catch it open - some genuinely striking stained glass that catches the afternoon light just right.

It's not a sit-down-for-hours kind of visit. Most people spend twenty minutes poking around the graves, reading the oldest inscriptions, maybe taking a few photographs of the stonework. The church itself is well-maintained, which you don't always get with places this age. History enthusiasts will find it worthwhile, though families with younger children might find the churchyard a bit of a brief stop before moving on to something with more interactive appeal.
