St Aidan's is a modest stone structure with a real sense of solitude about it. You'll find the interior simple and contemplative, the kind of space where you can actually hear yourself think rather than being overwhelmed by gilded excess.

It's worth a stop if you're into religious history or just fancy a quiet moment with a coastal view. The walk from the village takes maybe ten minutes. History buffs will appreciate its medieval roots and the fact it's dedicated to one of Northumberland's most important saints - Aidan of Lindisfarne, who brought Christianity to this stretch of coast in the seventh century. The beach below is decent enough, though not spectacular.

If you're staying at Golden Sands Holiday Park just over a mile away, or at Church Point further inland, this makes an easy leg-stretch between proper attractions. It won't occupy you for more than half an hour unless you're genuinely absorbed in ecclesiastical architecture. Morpeth, the nearest proper town, has more substantial draws if you're after a full day out. The real appeal here is the combination - a quick church visit paired with a coastal walk and a breath of sea air. Free to visit, naturally. Go on a clearer day if possible; the mist that rolls in can make the whole experience feel rather too melancholic.
