Splashdown Water Park

Splashdown is what you get when you want to cool off without leaving Dorset - a proper water park just outside Wimborne with slides, pools, and all the usual attractions that'll keep kids entertained for a good half-day. The setup is straightforward: you've got your standard flumes ranging from gentle to genuinely quick, a leisure pool for the less adventurous, and usually some kind of kids' area with smaller slides and splash zones.

It's family-focused, no question. If your children are aged four to twelve, they'll likely have a blast. Teenagers tend to get bored unless they're competitive about beating their own slide times. Adults accompanying will spend most of their time on poolside duty or queuing, though the faster slides are genuinely good fun if you fancy a go yourself.

The park sits reasonably close to several holiday parks - Haven Rockley Park and Dorset Glamping are both under four miles away, which makes it a handy add-on to a week's stay rather than a destination in itself. If you're based at Sandford or Oakdene Forest Park further out, it's still only twenty minutes or so.

You'll want to check their website for current admission prices and opening hours before you go - these water parks can be pricey in peak season. Summer school holidays are rammed. Go early on a weekday in June or September if you can, when it's warmer than spring but far less crowded.
