South Cliff Gardens

Perched high above Bridlington's seafront, these formal Victorian gardens offer proper respite from the crowds below and some of the best coastal views you'll find on this stretch of Yorkshire coast. The terraced lawns roll down the clifftop in neat rows, with well-maintained flower beds that put on a good show from spring through autumn. What makes this spot special is the elevated position - you can see right across Bridlington Bay and out towards Flamborough Head on a clear day.

Families will find it a lovely spot for a picnic, though restless toddlers might get bored after half an hour unless they're content watching the boats below. The paths are pushchair-friendly, which is more than can be said for many clifftop walks around here. Dog walkers seem to love the place too - there's plenty of space for a proper run about.

It's free to wander around, and you could easily spend an hour here if you're not in a rush. The gardens work well as part of a longer coastal walk or as a breather between beach time and exploring Bridlington's old town. If you're staying at South Shore Holiday Park, it's practically on your doorstep - just a few minutes' walk up the hill. Those at Haven Thornwick Bay or the other parks further out will find it worth the drive for the views alone.
