The Bayle Museum

Historically minded visitors will get the most from it. Kids might find the interactive bits engaging enough, though it's not a place to occupy them for an afternoon. Free entry is the only way this kind of museum survives, so check opening hours before you visit - seaside town museums often have quirky seasonal schedules. Rain day option? Absolutely. Better than another amusement arcade on the seafront. The building itself, with proper period features, is worth seeing even if you're not mad about exhibits.
