Snoopys Dog Park

You won't find Snoopy himself at this quirky spot near Newent, but the dog park does exactly what it says on the tin - a dedicated space for dogs to run about without leads. It's a straightforward affair: fenced enclosure, decent ground, room for your mutt to burn off energy without worrying about traffic or sheep wandering in from the surrounding Herefordshire countryside.

Who benefits most? Anyone with an active dog, obviously. If you're travelling with a spaniel or terrier that's been cooped up in the car, this is the place to let them loose for half an hour. Dog walkers staying at the nearby caravan parks - Pelerine and Haywood Farm are barely a mile away - will find it convenient enough for a morning or afternoon break. Fair warning though: it's not a destination in itself. You won't spend hours here, and there's no café or seating to speak of.

The surrounding area has proper dog-friendly appeal, mind. Several of the local glamping sites cater to pets, and Greenacres and Darnells' Farm both welcome four-legged guests. If you're basing yourself in the area for a week, Snoopy's fills a practical gap - somewhere to exercise your dog while you're on holiday. But don't drive an hour out of your way just for this. It works best as part of a broader Herefordshire break where you're already exploring Forest of Dean walks and the wider countryside. Bring a ball, let your dog run mad, and move on.
